Dédé's La Légende,

As much as we loved Dédé's 30-378, it is a bit much for the type of game so the plan was to build him a rifle over the course of the off season, Here's a first look at his new toy, the ReddNobb custom "La Légende", that's the name Dédé wanted to give it, these photos were taken before I painted the name on the mag, so you`ll have to wait for the videos to see how it looks.

It started out as a Rem 700 in 30-06 but the action and trigger is about all we kept. The barrel is a Benchmark no.5 contour, 1-9 twist, 5R rifling finished at 26 inches chambered in 25-06, an ideal caliber for our big eastern coyotes in open spaces. Of course it has one of my compensators screwed at the end, the recoil reduction it provides is very beneficial when you have cameras mounted on the rifles like we often do. The bottom metal is by PTG and it takes an Accurate-Mag 30-06 magazine. I put one of my custom bolt knob on and did a polishing job on the factory trigger. All the metal parts are finished in Mud Brown Cerakote. Scope bases and rings are from Warne.

The stock is a B&C M-40 and the barrelled action and mag well are bedded in Devcon. The stock wears one of my custom camo done in air cured Cerakote.

Load developpment was sweet and short, mainly because I was running out of time before the start of the season but for this season he will be shooting a Nosler 85 gr. BT Varmint travelling @ 3370 fps, should do the trick for now, but I'm certain I can load this bullet at least 100 fps faster once I get to play with the rifle a bit more.

The scope is a Bushnell 10x fixed and it has a mildot reticule. This little scope is quite affordable and has built itself quite a good reputation for reliability. Sighted in 1 inch high @ 100 meters his mildots will be at 325, 440, 530, 605 and 675 meters and at that distance the bullet still hits with 350 ft-lbs of energy. Like I said, one hell of a coyote caliber.

Autant qu'on aimait la 30-378 , faut admettre que c'était un peu fort pour le genre de gibier qu'on chasse faque le plan c'était de lui monté une pétoire pendant la saison off. La voici donc, la ReddNobb custom "La Légende", c'est le nom que Dédé voulait lui donner. Comme ces photos ont été prises avant que je tag la carabine, va falloir attendre un videos pour que vous puissiez voir de quoi ça l'air.

C`était une Rem. 700 BDL en 30-06 mais j'ai juste gardé l'action et la détente. le canon est un Benchmark contour no 5, twist 1-9, 5R fini à 26 pouces et chambré en 25-06 Remington, un calibre idéal pour nos gros coyotes de l'est chassés en terrain ouvert. Bien sur, un de mes compensateurs est vissé au bout du canon, la réduction du recule aide beaucoups a garder l'image stable lorsqu'on tir avec des caméras montées sur nos guns. Le mag well ( puits du chargeur ???) est un PTG et on utilise des chargeurs Accurate-Mag pour 30-06. J'ai installé un de mes bolt knob custom, poli et ajusté la détente et ensuite fini toutes les pièces métaliques au Cerakote couleur Mud brown.

la crosse est une B&C M-40 dans laquel j'ai bedder l'action et le mag well dans du Devcon. Le fini sur la crosse est un de mes camo custom fait au Ceracote air-cured.

Le développement de la load c'est fait assez rapidement, principalement parce que la saison approchait et que je manquais de temps. La load qu'il va tirer cette saison va pousser un Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint de 85 grains @ 3370 fps, très acceptable comme load à coyote, mais je suis persuadé qu'en passant un peu plus de temps a travailler la charge on peut facilement aller chercher 100 fps de plus.

La lunette est une Bushnell 10x Tactical, un bon petit scope bon marché qui s'est fait toute une réputation coté fiabilité. Ajusté 1 pouce de haut à 100 mêtres, ces mildots lui donnerons des distances de tir de: 325, 440, 530, 605 et 675 metres et à cette distance le plomb frappe encore avec 350 pi-lbs de force. Comme je le disait, tout un calibre à coyote.

Ma job est faite, c'est maintenant à mon partner de faire le reste.
